About Manasa.

Manasa Devi, the snake mata, is worshipped by Hindus, primarily for the prevention and treatment of snakebites and communicable illnesses like smallpox and rooster pox in addition to for prosperity and fruitfulness. She stands for each 'destruction' and 'regeneration', virtually akin to a snake shedding its pores and skin and being reborn. The icon of the mata is depicted as a swish woman along with her physique, decorated with snakes and session on a lotus or standing on a snake, beneath a hooded cover of seven cobras. She is commonly seen as 'the one-eyed goddess', and generally portrayed together with her son Astika on her knees. Also called 'Nagini,' the feminine meandering avatar or 'Vishahara,' the mata who annihilates poison, Manasa, within the Hindu mythology, is supposed to be the daughter of sage Kasyapa and Kadru, the sister of the serpent-king Sesha. She is the sister of Vasuki, king of Nagas and wife of sage Jagatkaru. A simplified model of the parable regards Manasa because the daughter of Lord Shiva. Legends have it that she was discarded by her father Lord shiva and husband Jagatkiru, and hated by her stepmother, Chandi, who scooped out certainly one of Manasa's eyes. So, she seems to be foul-tempered, and benevolent solely in direction of her devotees.
